HI. My name's Glenn.

I'm a developer/analyst in the Cincinnati area.  Nice to meet you.

I have a day job, but also do freelance.  I like to work with small businesses, including startups, but I'll entertain just about anything.  I do a lot of different things, but let's just talk about IT for a moment.

I've worn just about every IT hat there is, and I've been doing it for a long time.  My strong suit is systems architecture.  I can help you take a look at your entire information system - from your web-facing public image to your back-office operations.  I love challenging, diverse problems.  Here's a sampling of the things I focus on:

  • Web and applications development (.NET,  Win32/COM and PHP primarily)
  • Experience with Exchange, Sharepoint, Flash, Ajax, Web Services, XML and tons of other stuff you're probably wondering about
  • Database (MS SQL, MySQL and Postgres)
  • Networking and infrastructure
  • Information security
  • Applications integration
  • Telecommunications

If none of that means a lot to you, think of it this way: I solve lots of different problems in lots of different areas of technology.  Chances are, I know a bit about what you're facing.  Drop me a note and let's chat about it.

About Coder's Art

I'm passionate about design.  I think IT people tend to get pigenholed into a stereotype - namely that of being flat and not very creative.  While I certainly agree that there aren't many people who would make fabulous graphic designers and accomplished developers, I think there are some unsung synergies between the two.  In some ways, programming is like music, or perhaps sculpture.  It's just that much of the art in code is never seen.  Plus, programmers are astonishingly adroit at churning out ugly interfaces that "feel" sterile and look worse.  I'm allowed to say that - I was one of them!

Anyway, my hope is that this site can begin to bridge the gap between the two :-).
